Crispell is one of ECM's most adventurous artists and here creates improvised duets with clarinetist David Rothenberg. She and Rothenberg make music together in dialogue and create new compositions together in real time. This release follows Crispell's string of acclaimed trio albums: The prize-winning Nothing Ever Was Anyway, Amaryrillis, Storyteller, and 2008's wonderful solo disc Vignettes. Crispell occupies a unique place at the nexus of avantgarde jazz, post-bop and contemporary composition.
