This CD features the great Stan Kenton Orchestra performing as it says in the title popular songs in a lighter vein rather than the big concert arrangements that he is known for. This is a cd that is accessible to to a more general audience. Featured instrumentalists are Zoot Sims, Conte Candoli, Charlie Mariano, Lee Konitz, Bill Perkins and Ernie Royal. All of the music is "live" performances from the NBC radio series "All Star Parade Of Bands".
