Music From a Film by Joel Coen & Ethan Coen, “O Brother, Where Art Thou?,” Mercury Records. Have you heard about this yet? There’s this movie about hillbilly singers set in the 30s, and the soundtrack has Ralph Stanley, Norman Blake, John Hartford, and tons of other traditional music experts. It’s really damn good. No, really, it’s pretty much as good as this music gets.

Ernestine Anderson, “My Kinda Swing,” Mercury Records. Another remastered reissue of a record in its original packaging. Fine stuff, some solid singing, interesting arrangements.

Rolling Stones, “Metamorphosis,” Abkco Records. I was kind of half-listening to this Stones album I’ve rarely heard before. It sounded great. Why have I ignored it all these years?
